What A Difference Liquidity Makes

(DailyFX.com) - What a difference a week makes. Summer doldrums quickly disappeared as capital markets scrambled wildly to cope with the liquidity crisis unleashed by the BNP Paribas announcement that its was suspending redemptions in its asset backed funds. This was the third such move by a major financial player over the past few weeks, and while in the short term it may have been a prudent course of action for preservation of assets in the fund – the long term implications for capital markets of such arbitrary changes in policy could be disastrous.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Going to say that I know what that means would be a lie, most of what you read up top is nothing more than a recap on some crappy financial move that somebody made in some company that no one cars about. Just kidding.

Is China Just Messing With Us?

DailyFX.com - This morning, the UK Telegraph published an article titled “China Threatens ‘nuclear option’ of dollar sales. This has received more than the usual press because shifts in Chinese Policy are typically announced through government sponsored think tanks or academics. This time however, the warning was given by two government officials which is a reflection of how serious this threat is. With $1.3 trillion in foreign reserves, most of which are held in US dollars, China has what it takes to cripple the US economy.

Will China Follow Through With the Threat?

DailyFX.com - However at the same time, we do not think that China will follow through with the threat since China and the US are interdependent. The US is a big importer of Chinese goods and China cannot stop buying US dollars. Their current bond market is one tenth the size of the US bond market.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does this present a potential US economy catastrophe? I believe so, not only does China have the power to cripple the US, but it can very well cripple other countries as well as most bonds and trades are made in US dollars.

China will be the next Super Power in this world and everyone knows it. Their economy will continue to improve as ours gets worse. However, as said in the quote above..I do not think China will go through with this threat. China and the US have too many import and export relations and to just quit or get rid of them would be a bad move for either party.

So next time you see a product that reads "made in China" be sure and thank them, for its the Chinese that supply us with cheap alternatives....think about it, if it weren't for the Chinese, the US would be selling those very same toys, clothes etc for literally twice the cost, maybe more.

British Foot and Mouth Disease Outbreak

"Foot and mouth disease has been discovered in the UK once again. The last time this epidemic hit the country was back in 2001 when the economic impact was close to GBP10 billion. The currency also suffered greatly as a result of the outbreak and in order to avert the same economic disaster that we saw in 2001, the government suspended exports of meat and dairy immediately."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Could you imagine if something that big happened in the U.S.? Well we have had several outbreaks from some very well known viruses, maybe you have heard of them?

- West Nile
- Bird Flue
- Mad Cow

Well The FMD, Foot-Mouth-Disease, is a lot like the last one listed above. It can infect cattle, pigs, deer, goats and sheep. For more info on this disease read this article from wikipedia.org
here.

The extent of the damage will go way beyond just bad meat and dead animals. It will gravely affect the British economy and send it on a somewhat of a downward spiral if this cannot be contained like it was in 2001 when the disease first appeared and caused massive economic trauma.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Even though the UK government will be working aggressively to control the situation, the breakout of Food and Mouth disease will lead to some sort of economic impact. In 2001, Foot and Mouth disease was first discovered on Feb 19, 2001. The UK responded by slaughtering animals, cancelling sporting events and postponing the general election. On a broader scale, British meat was shut out of the international markets and tourism was seriously affected. The crisis at the time was estimated to have cost Britain as much as 10 billion pounds (or $16 billion USD at the time)."

So, if you are planning a trip to Europe, stay away from the beef.

Dream of Winning The Lottery?

If you're like me and you live in Las Vegas then you have gambled at least one time while you were passing those noisy machines in the casinos. They can be a blessing if you happen to be lucky enough to come out on top that day, but they can ruin you just as easy or even easier.

I witnessed, not too long ago, the most depressing site I have ever laid eyes upon. A man in his 30's sat down next to me at a Wheel of Fortune machine and said these words "Come on baby, I gotta hit it this time. Check don't fail me now" This man put his ENTIRE paycheck that week into that machine and I think he did that because the person who last used it cashed out around $400, I was there for that too.

I on the other hand only put in my usual $20, and I actually came out with $44 profit that night. This poor guy lost $770 in about an hour, note that I was there with only $20 and the machine was good to me, but he was there with a mountain of money and couldn't catch a break. I overheard him saying that he cant wait to win it big and pay off his debt and his alimony and whatnot.

If you are like that guy was then you have a serious problem, money isn't going to rain from the heavens for you, it isn't going to be given to you just like that...you need to work for it. Sure, there are exceptions...people do win at the lottery or when they gamble, but those people are few and far in between. I see more losers on a daily basis than winners. FACT. So the next time you think you can win big by buying $100 worth of scratch tickets at the local 7-11 think again. Save your money and then invest it, make it work for you, make it double, hell even triple in its amount for you.

You don't need to win big at the casinos to get out of debt or to stay above the water with your bills. All you need is a little patience, prudence and a lot of learning.

Things always turn out the way you want them to...all you have to do is believe they will and it will happen. The universe is awesome like that

Time For Some Relaxation

Ever get tired of the same ol' stuff day after day? Are you running around, doing a million things at once? Most people these days are just like that. If you know someone like this and ask them "when is the last time you just....relaxed, and did nothing all day?" and if they say "Hmmm I don't remember" then that could be a serious problem.

Stress is one of the leading causes of death and can triple your chances of having heart disease and many other types of diseases. Read this article on CNN for more info on this.

A good way to start relaxing is to listen to soft, "non-angry" music while you sleep. This will relax your mood, muscles, mind and even calm your soul if you stay awake enough for it to do this. A good place to go for some relaxing tunes is here at SoundSleeping.com. Listen to these and let your worries just fall out of your mind, find your center or whatever it is that you do. Just don't be a slave to your everyday duties....A character named Brooks from a movie called The Shawshank Redemption said it best: "The world went ahead and got itself in a great big rush"...

Its time to slow down..

What Banks Do With Your Money

Have you ever wondered what banks like Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citibank do with your money when you deposit it? Hundreds of thousands of people all over the country, maybe the world, deposit millions of dollars and withdraw just as much. Well it isnt a secret, Most banks are public companies so you can find out just about anything on them. From their expense reports, losses, and even their earnings down to the last penny that was made.

I did a quick search on google and found that Bank of America made $19.96 billion dollars last year alone, up from $18.49 billion from 2006. If you don't believe me, look it up, better yet visit this link here and see for yourself.

What you DON'T know and what almost no Bank of America employee can tell you is how the bank actually invests in the Forex Currency market with a good portion of its money.

So, the bank you put your money into is making TONS money off of your heard earned cash is only giving you a VERY small portion of it.
